Release Update – August 2022

This is a marXact monthly update for our clients!

Hi,

As a UNI user, we want to help you to get the most out of your receiver. We hereby send you the Release Update mail for August, and tell you everything about the features and improvements that become available during this month.

We keep you informed about new functions and possibilities, conveniently collected in one comprehensive mailing, and on a monthly basis. In these mailings, we tell about what becomes possible and what improvements have already been implemented.

We combine the (start of) new features in monthly updates: these Release Updates mailings. In this edition, you will read that from now on it is easier to indicate which information you receive in your DWG or DXF export, the aforementioned functions that have gone live from the testing environment, and what the state of affairs is regarding UNI-Collect.

Feel free to forward this e-mail to colleagues who survey with the UNI-GR1 and/or process data in the UNI-Cloud, so that they are also informed of what’s to come or could register for our upcoming Demo Drinks on September 8th.

Export attributes per layer or
all-in-one with DWG and DXF

It became possible to specify how to get the attributes and height/name annotations in your DWG or DXF export not that long ago. When selecting the desired file type during the export, you could already choose whether or not you want to show the text per point as well as the attributes and height.

It was already possible to download the text in a separate layer. From now on, you can also choose to export these annotations in the measured layer! Handyif you want to see the (self-)written information directly with the point in your export and want to switch this on or off per layer and thus discipline.

Rolled out in recent updates

We told you about several new functions that were extensively tested in previous Release Updates. Tested, improved, tested again, and released after that. Recent UNI-Cloud and UNI-Connect updates include these options:

  • Easier cleaning of the UNI-Cloud database due to faster removal of large projects and objects
  • The handy preview of your data before the import starts
  • Volume measurements in the UNI-Cloud
  • Area measurements in the UNI-Cloud
  • Length measurements in the UNI-Cloud
  • Stability improvements in the 4G upgrade
  • A faster start-up of the UNI-GR1

This is now all live and much used by many UNI users already!

The UNI-Collect project view

You almost can’t have missed this: in the not too distant future, UNI-Connect will become UNI-Collect. Where you can now easily measure thanks to software in an internet browser, this will become even easier and, above all, faster and more stable with the help of a surveying app on iOS / Android.

This is a process that takes time. The survey application is being completely rebuilt with everything we have learned and placed in UNI-Connect. So, in fact, an entirely new product is being created that we have updated you on before. We are now working on the project view, how are projects displayed and, in which environment do you store a point?

In the image below, you can see how easily you can monitor the accuracy, fix, and the number of available satellites, as well as measure a point.

A nice bonus is that a handy tutorial takes you by the hand when measuring a point, line, or polygon. You can see that below. We make it even easier to measure and stake out, whether you’re doing it for the first time or are already a seasoned user.

Improved in the V2

We also spoke about this development before, the V2 version of the UNI-GR1 digital receiver. This version has adapted and further developed hardware, including the possibility of USB-C charging and 4G internet integrated. The battery also has a longer duration.

Don’t worry. Of course, we ensure that all current models can be used in the coming years too. Updates are made for this as well,, languages are added, new functions are developed, and questions can be put to our Support team. So there is no need to worry, your current device remains as current as before!

What steps do you need to take?

Not a lot, if we are completely honest with you. All updates are done
automatically and while you are out surveying in the field or preparing tasks in the office. You might need to turn your UNI-GR1 off and on again, but only when the update stops unexpectedly. After turning it on again, you are good to go.

More Release Updates coming up

So many new releases are coming, including expanding the UNI-Cloud project surveying and editing capabilities, new languages, additional coordinate systems, and additional options for layers and features. More on this in new Release Updates!

We will send you a new email full of information about new functions and improvements next month, so that you are able to take full advantage of these new possibilities as well.
