The public domain serves everyone. Roads, bike paths, squares and parks are designed, laid out and maintained by municipalities and other public organisations, and every one of those tasks leans on the same thing: current, accurate data about what is actually out there.

Waiting for that data is usually the bottleneck. The good news: your own field workers can collect it themselves, with digital measurements, during the work they already do.

Digital measurements, made by your own people

A GNSS receiver such as the UNI-GR2 converts satellite signals into centimetre-accurate positions. Your field worker records objects as points (a lamppost, a tree), lines (a kerb, a cable) or polygons (a lawn, a parking area) on a digital map, sorted into layers you define yourself.

While the field worker measures, the office watches the data come in. Measurements sync live to UNI-Cloud, so a designer can start sketching the new layout while the crew is still outside. You check on the spot whether everything has been captured, instead of finding the gaps a week later.

Exports go to CSV for Excel, and on the Professional plan to DXF for AutoCAD, and through the UNI-Cloud API the data flows straight into your own asset management or GIS software.

You survey 90%, the surveyor does the rest

Rody Duisters of marXact puts it plainly: “You can survey up to 90% of all objects in the (new) public domain. For the remaining 10% you can use the services of a surveyor.”

That split solves a real problem. Surveyors are scarce and their schedules are full. When your own team handles the everyday measuring, the surveyor’s time goes to the work that genuinely needs a specialist, such as determining a property boundary. Both sides win.

A concrete example

A municipality redesigns a neighbourhood square. The green team measures the existing trees, benches, bins and kerb lines during a regular maintenance round: one morning of work. The designer receives the DXF the same day and draws the new layout on top of real positions. After the works, the same team measures the new situation, and the management system is up to date the day the square opens.
