Surveying gets most of the attention, but half of field work runs the other way: the design exists, and someone has to put it on the ground. Stake-out in UNI-Collect does exactly that. Load the design, pick a point or line, and the app guides you to the spot, centimetre-accurate.
How stake-out works
You import the design through UNI-Cloud: DXF, DWG, CSV, GeoJSON or LandXML, in any coordinate reference system, with layer mapping on import so the file is ready to use the moment it lands. In the field you select what to stake out: a point, a polyline or a whole polygon, each with offset options if the mark needs to sit next to the line rather than on it. Need an extra point that is not in the drawing? You add it manually on the spot.
From there, the app does the guiding. The product page lists what you get: a direction arrow to the target point, values to the centimetre, and a warning when accuracy drops. Walk, watch the distance shrink, place the mark.
Staked-out points sync back to UNI-Cloud, so the office can see what has been set out, not just what has been measured.
Where it earns its keep
One of our users, T. van de Haterd, summarised it on our product page: “The stake-out function saves us a lot of time, with quick loading of points and lines. It’s easy to use, which is a big plus. We use the UNI-GR2 for baseline measurements, construction work, and sewer projects, and we’re very satisfied with it.”
That covers the range: kerb lines and building grids, sewer inverts, fence lines on an event terrain, planting areas in a garden design. Anywhere a drawing has to become reality, stake-out replaces the string lines, tape measures and improvisation.
A concrete example
A foreman receives the design for a new parking area as a DWG. The work planner strips it to the lines that matter, imports it into UNI-Cloud, and the next morning the foreman stakes out the kerb lines from the tablet with the UNI-GR2 on the pole. Every mark is where the drawing says it should be, and when the kerb layer arrives an hour later, the crew starts building instead of measuring.
