DiaFlow is a tablet drawing application developed by SPIE Nederland for recording household utility connections in the field. Instead of a paper sketch, the technician draws the connection once, on a map background, so the sketch is geographically oriented from the start. DiaFlow integrates KLIC data and covers gas, water, electricity, fibre, CAI and copper connections.

The DiaFlow and marXact integration adds the measuring to the drawing. Positions come from a marXact GNSS receiver through UNI-Cloud, in real time, so a house connection is measured with GPS instead of a measuring tape.

How the DiaFlow and marXact integration works

The technician measures the connection, from the street main to the connection point at the building, with the marXact survey pole. The receiver syncs its positions to UNI-Cloud, and DiaFlow retrieves them through the real-time UNI-Cloud API. The measured geometry lands in the sketch the technician is already making, and the completed record flows onward into the digital collaboration chain of the Dutch utility sector, the DSP.

The result is a house connection record that is measured, oriented and digital from the moment it is created. Nothing has to be redrawn, retyped or interpreted at the office.

Where this runs at scale

This integration came out of a collaboration between grid operator Enexis, marXact, SPIE Nederland and BAM Energie & Water, built for the volume of house connections those organisations handle every day. René Douma, managing director of BAM Energie & Water, summed up what changed: “At last, we can digitally measure and stake out house connections with our GPS survey poles.”

That is the scale this combination was made for: house connections in volume, each measured in the open trench, each documented before the sand goes back in.

Erste Schritte

The building blocks are DiaFlow, a marXact GNSS receiver with an RTK correction subscription and UNI-Cloud; the technical side runs through the UNI-Cloud API. Receiver, app, cloud environment and corrections come as one package: das UNI-Collect-Umfragepaket.
