Aplitop, based in Málaga, has been developing software for surveying, civil engineering and construction for over 20 years and describes itself as having a presence in more than 80 countries. TcpGPS is their app for data capture, surveying and stake-out with GNSS receivers: points, lines and polylines staked out on top of base maps and web map services, with DXF, DWG, GML, KML, KMZ and SHP for the exchange with the office.
Like the best field software, TcpGPS is hardware-flexible: it supports a wide range of GNSS receivers, integrated in the data collector or connected over Bluetooth. That is where the TcpGPS marXact combination lives. We tested the connection ourselves back when the collaboration started, and the results were exactly what you want from a test: it simply worked.
How the TcpGPS marXact combination works
Die UNI-GR2 GNSS-Empfänger outputs its position as a standard NMEA stream over Bluetooth. Pair it with the device running TcpGPS, select it as your receiver, and survey or stake out to the centimetre with RTK corrections. TcpGPS handles the surveying logic, from linear works to stake-out lists; the UNI-GR2 handles the position.
A concrete example
A contractor prepares the earthworks for a rural road section. The alignment is loaded in TcpGPS, the UNI-GR2 stands on the pole, and the foreman stakes the axis and the slope boundaries straight from the app. When the earthworks are done, the same setup measures the result for the volume calculation. One app, one receiver, both directions of the job.
