PRO Ewijk develops Sewer Cleaning Solutions (SCS), a Dutch software suite for recording work in and around the sewer. SCS Cleaner records the cleaning of sewer objects, from pipes and manholes to gullies and overflows, with export to RibX, the Dutch exchange format for sewer data, and to CSV. SCS Inspection supports visual inspections from the inspection van in line with NEN 3399 and EN 13508-2, and with the SCS Viewer clients follow progress on the map. The Viewer for desktop and the app are free to download; syncing through the cloud requires a paid subscription.
All that work hangs on objects with a location. And with gullies and manholes the registered position is often the problem: just under the surfacing, neatly covered in leaves, or simply never surveyed properly. That is where the link with marXact comes in.
How the integration works
The field worker surveys the object with a marXact GNSS receiver, for example the UNI-GR2 on the pole: a centimetre-accurate RTK position. The positions sync to UNI-Cloud and are available to the SCS environment straight away through the realtime API, tied to the cleaning or inspection record.
The client’s object register gets a little better with every round: whatever is missing or registered wrongly is put right during the normal work.
A concrete example
A cleaning company carries out the annual gully round for a local authority. The crew works through the route in SCS Cleaner, and at every gully that is missing from the map or shown in the wrong place, the actual position is surveyed. By the end of the season the local authority has a cleaning report and a gully register that matches reality. The next tender starts with real numbers in real locations.
