Geostruct, which now goes by the name beexact, is a Dutch software provider for infrastructure networks. Its Infra Management Suite (IMS) covers the full lifecycle of physical networks, and according to the vendor it “enables the configuration of virtually any existing or future network”. IMS combines an open database with integrated GIS and CAD functionality and mobile field applications, supporting the process from network design through as-built registration.

A platform that manages networks end to end needs field data that keeps up. That is where the Geostruct marXact connection fits: measurements from the field flow through the UNI-Cloud API, in real time, into the IMS environment.

How the Geostruct marXact connection works

A field worker measures the network with a marXact GNSS receiver, for example the UNI-GR2: cables and ducts in the open trench, joints, handholes and surface assets, each with a centimetre-accurate RTK position. The measurements sync to UNI-Cloud, and through the real-time API they are available to the Geostruct environment the moment they are taken.

The as-built registration in IMS is then built on measured positions rather than digitised sketches, and it grows during the build instead of after it.

A concrete example

A fibre contractor documents a new distribution network. The crew measures each duct section and joint before backfill, with the receiver on the pole. The registration keeps pace with the build, and at handover the network operator receives an as-built that matches what is actually in the ground. Nobody spends the following month reconstructing routes from photos.

The same flow works for the other network types IMS manages: a water main replacement or a low-voltage reconstruction is documented the same way, in the same environment.

Van start gaan

The building blocks are a marXact GNSS receiver with an RTK correction subscription and UNI-Cloud. Receiver, app, cloud environment and corrections come as one package: the UNI-Collect Survey Package. The technical side runs through the UNI-Cloud API, which gives partner platforms real-time access to survey data.

Fibre is where this combination proves itself daily; see also how Speer IT Cocon works with UNI-Cloud. Questions about Geostruct and marXact on your network? Contact us.
