Feature Friday – Improved user management for every organization

  • 4 min read
Feature Friday – September 2021

We have made it our mission to make digital surveying available to every field worker out there. To create the best possible personalized surveying experience for all of them, with handy tips and tricks, connections with other apps or software, and new feature releases frequently.

We’re going to combine these releases and updates and how they’ll improve your digital surveying experience in monthly updates: these Feature Friday blogs. This blog is dedicated to some exciting new features that are coming your way shortly and bigger projects we have started working on. In this edition, we’ll go over some features that went ‘live’ recently and the improvements we have made. It is now possible to assign user roles in the UNI-Cloud, is the API documentation rewritten, and the NTRIP caster of the base rover went live.

Improved user management due to the allocation of roles

With this recently launched feature, it is possible for admins to view the various user roles within their own organization and modify them if desired. This has improved user management, because these specific users keep more options and possibilities under their own management.

Improved project management, only admins can delete projects

This feature adjustment was made at the request of some UNI users. It is now only possible for admin users to delete projects. This keeps technical specialists, project managers, or other key users in control and no data gets lost accidentally.

A significant portion of all new features and changes implemented are the results of user feedback. Do you have any suggestions? You can send those in by e-mail: support@marxact.com.

Base rover now via UNI-Cloud NTRIP caster too

The NTRIP caster went live recently. This caster is an online server that connects two UNI-GR1s via the internet and thus helps you to survey points, lines, and polygons with another UNI-GR1 as a base station. In areas where UNI-RTK Premium coverage is sufficient, you will not need this functionality of course. This feature is especially interesting for users in countries where there is no UNI-RTK Premium coverage. When you log in to the UNI-Cloud, you see how you can use this new feature immediately.

Rewritten API documentation

We completed adjustments to our API documentation recently. This makes it easier for (new) integration partners to integrate their software with our UNI-Solutions. This makes it also easier to use the UNI-GR1 in combination with software that is specific to your field.

Continuous improvements and stability

In addition to all this, we worked on more stability during the preparation of projects, actual digital surveying, and processing of data last month. This is a continuous process that involves frequent testing, bug fixes, and we do everything we can to provide you with the ultimate survey experience.

What steps do you need to take?

Not a lot, if we are completely honest with you. All updates are done automatically and while you are out surveying in the field or preparing tasks in the office. You might need to turn your UNI-GR1 off and on again, but only when the update stops unexpectedly. After turning it on again, you are good to go.

More releases coming up

We have more releases coming up this year, including new coordinate systems for centimetre accurate points in other countries, new layer functionalities, expanding KLIC viewer possibilities by adding codes via UNI-Connect for digital surveying in the Netherlands, and a easy to use CAD drawing tool in the UNI-Cloud. More on this in future Feature Friday blogs!
