Feature Friday – April 2021
We have made it our mission to make digital surveying available to every field worker out there. To create the best possible personalized surveying experience for all of them, with handy tips and tricks, connections with other apps or software, and new feature releases frequently.
We’re going to combine these releases and updates and how they’ll improve your digital surveying experience in monthly updates: these Feature Friday blogs. This blog is dedicated to importing and exporting your points using the UNI-Cloud, with a base station preview released during this month too!

Import-Export using the UNI-Cloud
The much-requested import-export feature will be released in the final week of April. This brand-new functionality helps you to import points via the UNI-Cloud, after which they will be visible on all UNIs connected. Connected to each other via that same UNI-Cloud, where you can decide what project will be placed on what UNI-GR1.
You do not have to put a file consisting of all points on your tablet first, before importing that information into your survey tool anymore. This is an enormous time-saver, makes you more productive, requires less manual steps, and thus eliminates the chances of human mistakes. It is no wonder this feature was frequently asked for.
Thanks to this new feature, you will as well no longer have to press “export” in UNI-Connect after you have surveyed your work, not even “import” while working on a windy field. This saves time and, in case you are surveying under the burning sun, allows for you to run back to the shades as soon as possible.
Base station
We are coming closer to the release of the base station functionality. Just like the import-export functionality, this feature will be visible in your UNI-Connect during the final week of April. Free to look around if you are curious from that release on. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can try this feature as a beta. A beta function means that you can start using the base station functionality, but we are still improving the functionality and are not able to guarantee you full support and documentation just yet. It’s a solo adventure for the short-run for you, but feel free to try and give us the right feedback to improve!
What steps do you need to take?
Not a lot, if we are completely honest with you. All updates are done automatically and while you are out in the field. You might need to turn your UNI-GR1 off and on again, but only when the update stops unexpectedly. After turning it on again, you are good to go.
More releases coming up
We have more releases coming up this year, including easy and efficient archiving of projects, a brand-new survey app, new layer functionalities, and the completion of using you UNI-GR1 as a base rover.
