Feature Friday – July 2022
We have made it our mission to make digital surveying available to every field worker out there. To create the best possible personalized surveying experience for all of them, with handy tips and tricks, connections with other apps or software, and new feature releases frequently.
We combine the (start of) new features in monthly updates: these Feature Friday blogs. In this edition, you can read more about deleting large projects and objects faster and you get an update on marXact machine control. In addition, we tell you about the current UNI-Collect status and you can read which language will be added to the UNI-Solutions next. We conclude with the importance of implementing structural improvements and how our developers support our UNI-Support team – and therefore you.
Delete large projects and objects faster
We are currently finalizing a much-requested new feature: deleting large projects and objects faster. Have you accidentally imported the wrong file or are you just cleaning up your UNI-Cloud database? In these two and all other situations, this will be faster than ever! We will add this improvement to a next UNI-Cloud update so that you can use it automatically.
More machine control
In the Feature Friday blog of June, we mentioned machine control with marXact already. At the moment, we have built a strong foundation and are moving from a stable and fluid concept to the real machine control that you can use. This will take some time and effort, but we’ll be more than happy to show it to you soon.
This summer, we are organizing a Sneak Preview Event where we will tell you more about the possibilities that centimetre accurate surveying and machine control offer you! For this purpose, specific invitations are sent to organizations that have already shown interest. Would you also like to be there or do you have a specific question? The UNI-Collect update
Creating the UNI-Collect surveying app is a precious thing. A great development in which we are happy to invest a lot of time and energy, but something that is not ready 1-2-3. We’ve written about this before, so it’s good to give you a summary update in this Feature Friday.
The foundation for the app has been laid and we are currently adding more features to it. We perform tests with every added feature. We know for sure that the final app that is launched is as strong as possible and can be used in the field, by doing so. We implemented the survey settings in UNI-Collect recently, these are currently being tested by a number of colleagues.
We are working hard to add order management to this new app as well. This allows you to place an order or view your current one yourself, immediately extend your UNI-Cloud & Support subscription, and manage your orders and UNI-Cloud account with 1 account. Handy!
Adding languages, German
If you survey in different countries or have colleagues who speak a different language than you do, you are probably familiar with the multiple languages in our software already. German will be added soon and native speakers of German will be able to take the steps for successful surveying easily.
Continuous improvements
Fix bugs, expand existing survey options, and give you the full surveying experience. In addition to the activities mentioned above, these are 3 ongoing tasks that we take very seriously.
So serious that we decided to structurally assign one developer as UNI-Support support recently. When a UNI user calls with a very specific question or problem and our support team does not have the answer immediately, they can rely on the knowledge of one of our developers to help them further. He or she can even look ‘behind the scenes’ and may have been involved in developing that specific function, page, or process. The solution is therefore found faster and more often. By doing this, we also expand UNI-Support for you!
What steps do you need to take?
Not a lot, if we are completely honest with you. All updates are done automatically and while you are out surveying in the field or preparing tasks in the office. You might need to turn your UNI-GR1 off and on again, but only when the update stops unexpectedly. After turning it on again, you are good to go.

So many new releases are coming, including expanding the UNI-Cloud project surveying and editing capabilities, new languages, additional coordinate systems, and additional options for layers and features. More on this in new Feature Friday blogs!
