No, we’re not talking about going on a safari and watching big animals in Africa. If you’ve followed us for a while now, it’s the blog you’ve been expecting. It’s time to check in with Amiel, Marco, Niels, and RoOur Big Four started working with us back in September and were part of a big bunch of hires, including interns Chris and Justin who have returned to full-time college since then. How did they experience their first months and what do they want you to know?
Amiel, Development
“I feel like we as a team, are really there for each other, even more so than I was used to in my career. Yes, we can ask for help when creating a new feature or fixing a bug, but that help becomes more than just a quick answer. My Development colleagues and I take the time to help each other understand where the question comes from and how to make sure that you really –really– understand how to solve it.”
Marco, Development
“The company and team culture are mostly the same for me. Everybody is helpful and the environment is always relaxed. I can always ask anyone for help and input from different sides, which helps me in my progress and with finishing tasks.
I mostly worked on the Cloud, I’ve added the manual point to the cloud for example. Labels and zoom when you click on the point. I have worked with colleagues on the cloud user interface and the API, and on big new features that will be released this year.”
Niels, Development
“I’ve continued working at marXact after my internship ended. Mostly because of the work atmosphere and the feeling that I -and my work- are appreciated. They look at your input and the ideas you come up with and then, most of the time, give you the ‘Go’ to start working on them. For me, these were suggestions such as optimizing our internal processes for example.”
Rody, International Expansion
“It all happened so quickly, the last 9 months went by so fast! One minute you’re receiving a personalized schedule for the first weeks and now, now I’m telling about my experiences. You know, what stands out to me is the amount of contact I have with customers. Whether is by performing demos, being a part of the stand personnel during fairs such as InfraTech and Vakbeurs De Groene Sector, or over the phone and per email. I get to speak to so many different people from such different backgrounds and that is just so interesting and fun!”
